Together for Short Lives exists to make sure that every child who needs it can access high-quality children’s palliative care.
Together for Short Lives is the national UK charity for children living with serious illness, their families and the people who support them. It works both directly with families and with its members to support babies, children and young people expected to have short lives.
It has a community of over 1,000 members including services and professionals working across a wide range of roles to support seriously ill children and their families. It campaigns for better access to palliative care and seeks to support those working in other medical specialisms to connect with children’s palliative care early to ensure the best possible care for children.
Together for Short Lives also provides practical, financial and emotional support to families directly. It runs a helpline which provides advice to parents on a wide range of issues, facilitates peer support and offers practical help through grants and signposting.
True Colours has funded the work of Together for Short Lives over many years, most recently with a grant towards the organisation’s core costs. We have also been proud to support the development of new palliative care categories to help healthcare professionals recognise babies, children and young people who may benefit from a palliative care approach.
